Product Manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for Product Manager on a 4 month contract with a possibility of an extension.

This position will be a total of 36 hours per week, with hours from 09:00am – 17:00pm.

Job Purpose:

This is an exciting new role to join Kingston council leading one of our key initiatives. This role will require someone who will be a champion of agile, able to lead multi-disciplinary squads using data to prioritise and iterate our web services in line with the needs of our users. You will manage the product life cycle, gathering and prioritising user and business requirements to define a product vision, working with stakeholders to maintain alignment.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• Collaborate with the different service areas in the council to help them identify and define their biggest problem statements with a view to creating a vision, strategy, and roadmap that you will own and then deliver
• Create, own and prioritise the product backlog
• Lead and prioritise the work for teams of up to 10 people and overseeing suppliers
• Lead responsibility for budgets up to £1m
• Lead on the design and operation of services designed around users, incorporating business critical systems
• Represent the user by understanding their needs
• Understand and balance user needs with organisational objectives to frame problems
• Use agile methodology and apply an agile mindset to all aspects of your work. Create a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery
• Articulate the vision and strategy across the organisation
• Take a customer centric approach to lead multidisciplinary product teams, including user research, design, data, development and delivery, to prototype, build and run digital products and services to meet user needs
• Establish KPIs, measure impact, and report on performance
• Ensure services are accessible
• Iterate services based on data and user feedback
• Deliver key products and services that will transform the way we interact with our customers.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• An experienced product manager who enjoys working across different areas of a business to help them identify their main opportunities and create a strategy and vision to deliver on those
• A leader who can champion a customer led thinking way of working
• Someone who questions and challenges ways of working, with an understanding of the bigger picture in terms of the corporate context and external environment
• Can demonstrate agility and adaptability in mindset and ways of working
• An ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships
• Can demonstrate innovation and creativity
