Project Manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager on a month’s contract with a possibility of an extension.

Main purpose of post

The other role will be to support a sub-team to evaluate and process applications for local business support grants on behalf of the government via online forms, MS Excel documents, anti-fraud measures and SAP payment processes, in addition to producing reporting information, answering applicant queries and being a point of contact for the evaluation team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies to attract business and investment to the borough.
• To support the Directorate and Council influence, guide and shape strategies that attract investors/developers to key areas/sites within the Borough
• Develop an effective approach to the delivery of an inward investment enquiry handling programme.
• To assist the Directorate and the Council communicate an evidence-based, clear, achievable and compelling inward investment, employment and business case to secure investment and shape London and sub-regional frameworks for the benefits of the communities.
• To support and where required lead Directorate and Council working with local businesses at a strategic level to support local foras and ensure that agencies provide relevant and responsive services.
• To support and where required lead Directorate and Council work to secure business growth and jobs within the Borough from investment and regeneration activity.
• Develop and manage a team/external contractors responsible for Investment, Business and Employment.
• Ensure relevant strategies and policies are developed, agreed, to support the Council’s regeneration strategy.
• Ensure systems, processes and procedures are in place to meet all relevant strategic, operational, corporate and legal requirements
• Provide specialist advice to senior managers, local businesses and external organisations involved in attracting inward investment.
• Lead on specific projects as required.
• Manage the resources provided to enable the team to meet or exceed its objectives
• Provide leadership and management of the team/contractors, ensuring that individuals, teams/contractors perform to a consistently high standard
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with external organisations concerned with the attraction of inward investment.
• Ensure the successful implementation of health and safety legislation, policies and practices.
• Act in accordance with all policies and procedures which apply to the job and understand the reasons for this.

• The ability to successfully plan, manage and communicate project risks
• Relevant experience delivering similar services, with evidence of specialist knowledge and work responsibilities appropriate to the role

• Ability to communicate effectively using a wide variety of media and methodologies, including written, oral and visual means of communication
• Well-developed interpersonal, persuasion and negotiating skills
• Ability to think strategically
