Senior Building Surveyor / Project Manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Building Surveyor / Project Manager on a 3 months contract with a possibility of an extension.

Main purpose of post

• To work with colleagues to achieve service plan objectives/targets.
• To participate in One to One Performance Development Reviews/Appraisals and contribute to the identification of your own and team development needs.

Responsibilities

• To undertake all building surveyor functions to ensure the Council discharges all statutory duties as a Landlord, including but not limited to the appropriate management of Asbestos.
• To be responsible for providing technical specifications required to support effective and efficient procurement of works and services to support delivery of Housing Investment and Development Asset management programmes.
• The post holders will be responsible for undertaking condition and structural surveys. Along with providing technical advice to clients, take clients briefs, prepare feasibility studies and drawings in compliance with Building Regulations and Planning policies.
• The post holders will be required to carry out assessments of grant and loan applications for grant and loan calculation and preparation of comparative estimates, including quantitative analysis, along with pre-approval visits
• To be responsible for site supervision of grant and loan aided work and valuations for interim and final payment ensuring quality and financial control.
• To be responsible for site surveys, levelling and preparation of drawings, specifications and estimates, relevant to implementation of minor or major adaptations across tenures within Thurrock.
• Assisting in the processing of empty property grants including Structural Surveys and other Specialist projects as detailed within Team Service Plan
• To provide expert building and maintenance advice and services, undertake site and building surveys prepare plans specifications, work schedules and to specify works to void properties as required.
• To supervise contract works including the pre and post inspection of works for standards , quality and compliance, ensuring value for money in the delivery of Housing Investment programmes
• To ensure effective delivery of customer care to include quality customer services and investigation and the resolution of customer complaints.
• To compile detailed and comprehensive written reports for managers , Elected Members and responses to complaints
• To maintain quality standard of works to comply with I.S.O 14001

• Undertake site and building surveys to identify building defects
• Prepare plans and drawings for repairs and investment works , specify and supervise works
• Hold an appropriate surveying / maintenance qualification BTEC Level 3 or equivalent.
