Senior Cyber Security Engineer (L4Z2)

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for Senior Cyber Security Engineer (L4Z2) on a 3 month contract with a possibility of an extension.

This position will be a total of 36 hours per week, with hours from 09:00am – 17:30pm.

Job Purpose:

This is a hands-on technical role requiring a detailed understanding of the evolving security landscape and the technical ability to implement and configure security toolsets, provide best practice security advice and design new security solutions.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• The Security Operations team is responsible for ensuring the protection of all physical and digital assets belonging to the business by relying on various techniques, controls and systems as well as applying a defense-in-depth approach.
• The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will be the technical escalation point for the Cyber Security Analysts who focus on the ongoing protection of digital assets through consistent monitoring and investigation of various security events generated by our monitoring tools.
• The Senior Cyber Security Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring that the team maintains a high level of performance to provide service to any requests with the goal to continually acting as a secure business enabler while supporting the Security Operations Manager in specifying and delivering IT and Cyber Security elements of our strategy and roadmap.
• You’ll be supporting the Technology leadership team to raise IT Security profile within the business by building relationships with colleagues across Camden. You will help to promote IT Security internally providing context and demonstrating relevance and importance within Camden.
• You will take a lead role investigating suspected attacks while helping to manage security incidents.
• You will collaborate with the wider team to balance IT security controls in protecting sensitive data without impacting productivity.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• Strong interpersonal skills: stakeholder engagement is key to this role as it will involve collaborating with all stakeholders on complex and contentious security and technical information.
• You should be passionate about your chosen technology field and have a good attention to detail.
• Demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of Azure cloud security technologies; Azure Sentinel, Defender for Endpoint, Identity, SQL, Azure Security Centre.
• In-depth technical knowledge of vulnerabilities, threats, attack methods and infection vectors with demonstrable understanding of DLP/IDS/IPS technologies.
• In-depth technical experience working with and implementing a multitude of technologies including SASE, CASB, SIEM, Firewalls etc. and an ability to construct custom queries covering the latest threats, tactics and procedures.
• Experience working in a modern agile delivery environment (Scrum, Kanban etc).
• A solid foundation in computer networking fundamentals & security control, firewalls, routing and the various threats applicable to the various OSI networking layers.
• A good working knowledge of security standards, privacy (DPA) and compliance law including ISO 27001:2013.
