Senior Planning Officer – Development Management

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for Senior Planning Officer – Development Management on a 3 month contract with a possibility of an extension.

This position will be a total of 36 hours per week, with hours from 09:00am – 17:30pm.

Job Purpose:

To provide high quality planning services and support.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• To assess a range of complex planning applications, including the production of reports and appeal statements within specified timescales.
• To take part in pre/post application discussions relating to planning applications and planning appeals.
• To respond to customers through a range of channels (for example telephone and in writing)
• Undertake a full range of planning enforcement work including the production of reports and witness statements and ensuring the legal position of the Council is protected.
• To respond to customers through a range of channels (for example telephone and in writing)
• Post is office based, but will be required to visit sites within LB Camden. The post holder will need to wear appropriate personal protective clothing (including footwear) on building sites and dangerous structures.
• There can also be an occasional requirement to work outside normal office hours or to attend evening meetings or events.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• Completion of recognised degree, Diploma or other Royal Town Planning Institute exemption qualification or similar non-recognised planning qualification subject to formal assessment.
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
• Thorough awareness of current planning issues and a working knowledge of relevant legislation.
• Experience in Development Control including dealing with complex planning applications and appeals
• Experience in Development Management including dealing with complex planning applications and appeals
• Experience in Planning Enforcement including investigating complaints, serving enforcement notices, preparing witness statements and dealing with appeals.
