Senior Surveyor (Band 4)

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for Senior Surveyor (Band 4) a 3 month contract with a possibility of an extension.

This position will be a total of 36 hours per week, with hours from 09:00am – 17:00pm.

Job Purpose:

Provide high level, expert professional/technical advice and guidance in Building Control to colleagues, managers, and partner agencies to contribute to delivery of the council’s objectives and priorities.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• Lead by example in modelling and embedding the council’s values and behaviours, working collaboratively with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders to help build a sustainable highly effective organisation and develop our reputation as a successful council delivering great value for its residents.
• Responsible for advising the public on building control matters and processing applications under statutory Building Regulations.
• Carrying out inspections to achieve statutory compliance.
• Advise the public on the requirements of Building Regulations and other related legislation.
• Process applications under Building Regulations, liaise with and offer guidance to applicants and draft determinations.
• Carry out inspections to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
• Liaise with other Council departments to enable other statutory duties to be carried out.
• Make site inspections of major Licensed Structures, assess structural adequacy and draft licence renewals.
• Deputise for the Head of Building Control where required.
• Make initial assessments of reported dangerous structures.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

• Building or Planning related Degree
• Full Membership of any of the following: RICS, ICE, IStructE or RIBA
• Full membership of any of the following:
• ABE, IFE, IOB
• Significant experience in building control
• Significant stakeholder liaison experience
• IT skills
• Report writing skills
• Knowledge of statutory compliance and building control regulations
• A command of written and spoken English which is appropriate for the effective performance of the role
