Street Works Inspector (NRSWA)

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for a Street Works Inspector (NRSWA) on a Permanent Full-Time Contract.

Job Purpose:

The Inspector’s role is to support the delivery of the Council’s responsibility and the function of the Street Works Management team by inspecting activities carried out on their highways in relation to regulations, statutory guidance, and codes of practice, to ensure compliance and when necessary, take actions and apply penalties to enforce these controls.

Job Specific Accountabilities:

• Inspect, report on and take remedial action on any reported network issues, as instructed or notified by the Streetworks Coordinator.
• Undertake routine sample inspections (NRSWA Category A, B &C) of works carried out by utility (Streetworks) and Highways (roadworks).
• Support the Streetworks Coordinator in the review and approval of traffic management applications and plans.
• Investigate, report and follow up remedial action on any damage to highway infrastructure caused by contractors during their work. Liaise with the Streetworks Coordinator to apply the relevant notifications to works promoter for their required action.
• Collect evidence to support the application of any action and associated sanction, as a result of inspections.
• Arrange meetings with works promoters, or their contractors, to discuss planning or actions required by Council.
• Proactively inspect and monitor other utility excavations and reinstatements, including NRSWA Section 50 private openings, to ensure that specifications detailed in NRSWA are adhered to.
• Support with the co-ordination of works, processing of permits, licenses, consents and permission of activities undertaken in the highway under statutory provisions of the Highways Act in order to minimise disruption, congestion and pollution in accordance with duties under the Traffic Management Act.
• Ensure that Health and Safety legislation is adhered to by those undertaking works.
• Ensure that the “Safety at Street Works and Road Works” code of practice (red book) is adhered to by those undertaking works.

Experience and Skills:

• 3 or more years of experience of Streetworks inspections.
• CSCS Card. (Required)
• Full and up-to-date Streetworks accreditation (supervisory level)
• Knowledge of NRSWA, TMA, Codes of Practice, SROH, Chapter 8 – highways working, Permit Scheme for Streetworks etc.
• Experience in using EToN systems and mobile applications related to recording and processing Inspections data.
• Experience in using MS Office applications.
• Valid and clean UK driving license.

Salary: £24,000.00 – £30,000.00 per year
