Accountant

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for an Accountant on a 3 months contract with the possibility of an extension.

The role will support Children’s Social Care, so it is important that candidates have experience with CSC placements, so they can hit the ground running.

The service is experiencing financial pressures and have challenging saving targets to deliver over the medium-term. The Accountant will support the significant service transformation to ensure that the current overspend is managed and mitigated, whilst supporting delivery of the saving programme.

Main duties and requirements:

• Active role in budget monitoring ensuring value is added throughout the process, this is to include being able to explain the financials in simple terms, provide challenge, support development of mitigations and being able to present information to senior colleagues.
• Financial modelling and appraisal.
• A number of mini projects will require robust financial analysis, so it is important that candidates have strong and proven financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills must be strong, and have the ability to communicate difficult messages confidently but with compassion and tact is very important.
• Line management experience would also be desirable, as this role will manage two Assistant Accountant. Looking for qualified and experienced individuals only.
• For this role you must have experience in Children’s Social Care.
