Building Safety Project Manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for a Building Safety Project Manager on a 3 month’s contract with a possibility of extension.

Job Context

The post holder reports to a Building Safety manager.

• The post holder does not have any line management responsibility.
• The post holder will work as a member of the team responsible for building safety across all the client’s owned and managed housing assets.
• The post holder will work collaboratively with all teams to deliver positive outcomes and maintain resident safety.
• The post holder will work across the Building safety team as directed to ensure the most effective and efficient use of resources. The key areas of work currently identified are building/block data gathering and the preparation of Safety Case Files/ Reports in support of the changes as set out in the Building Safety Act.
• The post holder will work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet the client’s building safety objectives

Key Tasks and Accountabilities:

• Managing the development of Building Safety Case Files and Building Safety Case reports, including the application to the Building Safety Regulator for Building Assessment Certificates.
• To lead on the inspection of buildings in scope to ensure structural and fire safety. Managing the cladding and block inspection process, EWS1 cladding inspections, the requirements of the DLUHC consolidated guidance and industry good practice.
• To work with a range of stakeholders, including but not limited to, fire engineers, consultant surveyors, residents, solicitors, leaseholders, housing staff and staff in other departments as necessary to deliver planned objectives to prove that buildings are safe.
• To prepare and issue reports on the requirements for building remediation, working collaboratively with other teams to ensure that repairs/improvements are expedited efficiently and residents are at all times fully updated.
• Work closely with the Head of Building Safety, others within the Building Safety team and the wider housing management team to develop and deliver effective resident communications to demonstrate that buildings are safe.
• Develop data recording systems to support the collection of key building information to support both the effective technical inspection of buildings but also the preparation of building Safety Case Files and Reports.

Skills and abilities:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience of working in private/public sector in a property maintenance, housing or construction environment.
• Educated to undergraduate degree level (or equivalent) in a building, construction, surveying, project management or related subject
• Experience of dealing with complex construction projects
• Professionally qualified of CIOB, RICS, APM
• Health and safety qualification, NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
• Valid UK driving licence and access to use a vehicle for business use
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays
• Willingness to undertake and attend training as required to develop skills and support the team
