Delivery Manager – Transformation L5Z1

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an opportunity for a Delivery Manager on a 3 month’s contract with a possibility of extension.

About the role

• You will work alongside strategy officers and other design and service practitioners on the delivery of encompassing areas of work in the Supporting Communities portfolio, leading from a project delivery perspective.
• You will be accountable for excellent team practice; ensuring a regular cadence of retrospectives, constantly work to optimise flow and learn by doing.
• You will coach your project teams to improve their ways of working, to get more productive and effective. Encourage open conversation.
• You will lead team ceremonies across your projects, in line with good agile practice.
• You will introduce performance reporting for all projects you are responsible for; define success criteria; build user-driven metrics that prove value; automate reporting wherever possible. Act on quantitative and qualitative feedback to improve everything you do.
• You will arrange and take part in research regularly for all projects you lead
• You will take an active role in the introduction of service standards, using the cross-government service standards.

About you

• We’re looking for an experienced agile practitioner, who enjoys building teams and getting new projects started.
• You will be delivery focused, but won’t be a purist, and will be excited about taking an agile approach across the cycle of policy/strategy development into real change on the ground for residents.
• You will have experience of projects in government public services or third sector contexts.

• You will have a strong track record of working across multiple projects that have delivered new products and developed services at different stages of the delivery cycle.
• You will have a strong focus on wellbeing and creating psychological safety within the team and in projects, recognising this as an essential condition for delivery.
• You will take responsibility for agile practice in the team; coach other members; remove blockers; deliver a backlog of work in line with user need.
• Alongside the delivery management community of practice, you will passionate about supporting a changing culture with our client to be more design-led, human-centred and creating a culture of learning around this.

• Able to persuade and negotiate with stakeholders of all levels
• Ability to listen actively, even when you disagree with someone, making every effort to empathise with their viewpoint
• Able to represent and be an advocate for Agile tools and techniques
• Able to establish strong feedback loops with internal and external users, taking part in data gathering and user research
• Ability to manage budgets
• Able to successfully lead teams through the full product/service lifecycle. Able to identify which tools and techniques should be used at each stage, develop sustainable support models and deal with potential risks across or between all phases of the lifecycle.
• Able to optimise the delivery flow of teams, actively addressing the most complicated risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team or no clear ownership exists.
• Able to lead a continual planning process. Able to identify dependencies in plans across services and coordinate delivery.
• An absolute commitment to meet user need in the best, most efficient way
• Able to coach within and outside your team.
• Able to speak and represent our delivery community to large audiences inside and outside of the organisation.
• Strong people management skills
