ResourceLink System Analyst – Grade I

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a ResourceLink System Analyst on an initial 2 months contract with the possibility for further extension – hybrid with 2 days/week in the office.

Main purpose of the job

To assist the development and support the implementation and operation of business applications through their lifecycle, working collaboratively with other IT teams to ensure timely and efficient resolution of application incidents and service requests. To assist and support the Senior Developer Analyst and Operation managers in the process of impact assessment, planning, testing, and implementing IT changes on agreed plans using appropriate tools. To provide technical support to users, prepare and maintain technical documentation, train staff, improving system usability and supporting corporate strategies.

Main responsibilities

• Assist and co-ordinate with requirements capture and analysis
• Review the statement of work and ensure the deliverables are clear and precise, liaising with the requestor if more information is needed
• Examine and analyse the available business process and business requirements documentation that relates to the proposed development and ensure it is adequate to deliver the statement of work
• Assist with research of different possible design solutions and features, evaluate against the original request, project brief and requirements
• Provide expert knowledge input to assist with selection of the most effective design for the application based solutions on own initiative and in-depth expertise in the relevant technical architectures
• Use initiative and make decisions on application design
• Assist with the creation of the software development environment liaising with server administration as required assisting with decisions on complex configurations as required.
• Liaise with internal business areas or their representatives – or with third party suppliers – to ensure that developed solution meets business requirements.
• Work with external IT suppliers and internal IT teams to develop solutions and capabilities. Developed and tested solutions should be capable of deployment to a UAT (User Acceptance Test) environment using documented release procedures. The solution should be of a quality that – in theory – would allow the application to be accepted at the first UAT
• Assist and support the testing of application solutions.
• Assist in the creation of test strategies and scripts, and plans as determined by the project, through definition of the test cases and scenarios and provide expert input into test strategies.
• Co-ordinate and carry out unit testing on developed software
• Perform systems integration testing
• Perform load and performance testing in collaboration with client’s software test and quality function
• Provide technical support for short to medium length projects as required
• Operate within defined release management processes for both Production and User Acceptance Test technical environments.
• To provide second line technical support for those applications within the team’s remit
• To provide support for critical or complex issues, using ITIL processes including incident (managing discrete service issues), problem (managing longer term service issues), change (manage change to IT services) and capacity management (ensuring the availability and performance of services).

Requirements

• Some understanding of ITIL service management processes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
• Understanding of the principles of database management and business process workflows.
• ITIL V3 foundation qualified
• Experience of Project management
• Knowledge and experience using BI reporting tools
• Experience of developing solutions outside of the database environment by utilising a range of IT tools, such as .NET, MS Office, VBA & SQL.
• Applications support, Service desk and incident management, Problem management
• Emerging technology monitoring
