Rent Arrears Recovery Officer

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Rent Arrears Recovery Officer on a 4 months contract with the possibility of further extension.

Main responsibilities:

• To assist the Finance Team Leaders & Rent Arrears Income Recovery Lead officers with all aspects of debt recovery across the full range of services as appropriate in accordance with agreed recovery and debt collection policies
• To have the ability to learn/have specialist knowledge on the legislation, policy and guidelines for recovery enforcement for a wide range of debt types.
• To ensure that the requirements to constrain the growth of rent arrears are met by prompt and efficient recovery actions in accordance with the pre action protocol, set procedures and good practice guidelines. Using a high degree of personal responsibility and with a minimum of supervision.
• Carrying out a range of tasks associated with Housing rent collection including enforcement process.
• Liaises with Customers and their Representatives, External and Internal Stakeholders to effectively resolve enquires and provide comprehensive advice and assistance in writing, and face to face.

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience working in rent recovery
• Experience working with multiple agencies to deliver services for customers.
• Experience of working in a customer- focused environment and achieving successful outcomes in the delivery of services that meet customer needs.
• Experience of being self-motivated and working within a busy, results orientated and constantly changing environment.
• Demonstrate an understanding of debt collection and recovery.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Financial Exclusion and the impact it has.
• Demonstrate knowledge of legislation as it relates to the service of Notice of Seeking Possession and Notice to Quit.
