Strategic Lead – Facilities Management

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Strategic Lead – Facilities Management on a 3 months contract with the possibility of further extension.

Role’s purpose

To offer strategic leadership, management and be accountable for the provision of the Service, ensuring that it continually meets the expectations and requirements of the business and all relevant legislation. To ensure the Service is developed within budgets, ensuring agreed standards of outputs are achieved and the service provided is responsive and of high quality.

Key accountabilities

• To establish a Strategic Facilities Management function, to enhance the effective and efficient delivery of the service. Including implementation of an Operational Property Model for the management of the client’s portfolio.
• Manage the Facilities Management Team (including contractor and consultant support as required), with responsibility for setting targets, monitoring performance and taking corrective action as necessary.
• To ensure that energy and water use are monitored , that bills are paid, that the client is on the best tariffs and to recommend spend to save schemes for energy and water use.
• Responsible for the development of the team’s operational procedures and strategies.
• Providing high level Facilities management service regarding all operational buildings for compliance and reactive maintenance together with other associated management functions.
• To be responsible and accountable for the supervision of performance development and motivation of the team.
• To hold monthly departmental meeting.
• To hold staff 1-2-1’s and PDR’s identifying relevant training needs require
• Undergo recruitment and selection of new employees when required.
• Investigate complaints made concerning members of the team or delivery of service.
• Carryout disciplinary, grievances, in line with the client’s policy.
• To set, review and manage the Operational Buildings budgets and have monthly meetings with Service Managers regarding expenditure.

• Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team with credibility generating support and commitment from colleagues
• Ability to influence and work with senior stakeholders to drive organisational change and workforce improvement
• Track record of effective continuous improvement in service delivery
• Evidence of CPD
• Relevant professional qualification
• Relevant membership of professional body
• Demonstrable experience of identifying and developing opportunities for innovation, improvement and change which have led to service improvement
• Track record of operating within a management team and contributing towards organisational improvement
