PLC Controls Engineer

Our client is currently recruiting for an PLC Controls Engineer on a permanent basis.

This is a great opportunity to join a highly respected company that is making exciting and advanced test machines for Aerospace, Automotive and many other industries. The small and friendly team provides part or full turnkey solutions for control, automation, test and measurement and the business has been established for a number of years.

This opportunity would suit a junior software engineer, a graduate with some experience or an individual looking for their next venture.

Responsibilities:

• Develop PLC software and electrical control panels.
• PLC Software writing and maintenance- Siemens TIA Portal & Others
• Produce machine schematics and wiring.
• Electrical Control Panels 400V, 230V, 24V
• PLC Wiring (Siemens, Pilz, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, Omron)
• Understanding of electrical schematics (Eplan, AutoCad, Visio)
• Mechanical fitting, cutting out panels, custom brackets and fittings.
• Able create cables, build electrical units, build and test PC systems.
• Site fitting of cabinets and control wiring
• No power or site services wiring required (18th/19th Edition not essential)
• Preferably trained in electrical systems (HNC/HCD)
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications and requirements:

• A full and clean driving license
• UK Passport (No Dual Nationals due Security Clearance been required by BAE)
• Knowledge of Risk Assessing Machinery and implementing Safety Concepts
• TUV Certified machinery Expert certification is a plus.
• Experience in high level System design
• Critical appraisal of yours and others designs within the design team to ensure robustness of design.
• To provide support for technicians in the assembly and testing of designs
• Have appropriate experience in the integration of software with control systems.
• Experience of fault finding on electrical and electronic systems
• A good understanding of machinery performance to comply with customer requirements.
