Senior Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Senior Commercial Contracts and Procurement Solicitor on a 3 months contract with a possibility of further extension.

Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties:

• Ensure that legal advice and assistance is provided efficiently and expeditiously both personally and by other staff within the Team. Manage and co-ordinate the work of more junior staff and provide advice, guidance and direction as necessary.
• Deputise for the Chief Commercial Lawyer as appropriate.
• Undertake a varied and complex caseload as required primarily involved contract advice to include procurement advice, drafting of contract documentation, negotiation with providers, suppliers and contractors and their lawyers in relation to contract terms and conditions and provide advice on insolvency, insurance and intellectual property as required.
• Prepare all legal documentation relevant to the caseload and in particular prepare a wide variety of contracts and advise on contract law and commercial matters and assist the Chief Commercial Lawyer and Principal Lawyer in relation to the most complex or specialised agreements as and when required.
• Carry out legal research for own cases and by way of support to the Principal Lawyer and Senior Lawyers in the Team.
• Work flexibly as part of the Commercial Team and be willing to offer support and assistance to other lawyers in the wider Legal Team as required.
• Act as legal advisor to all relevant departments in connection with procedures or matters arising from Committees attended or specific work undertaken. Participate in the drafting of reports to Committee, if required, considering and drafting legal implications as appropriate and otherwise attend or advise Committees as required.
