General Manager

Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has a new opportunity for a General Manager on a 3 months contract with the possibility of further extension.

Main purpose of the role

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of a large facility, or group of facilities, including the development of a high performing Management team. The General Manager will provide a clear strategic framework that enables the delivery of the group’s operational and financial targets, whilst ensuring a positive relationship with the organisation’s business and community partners.

Main accountabilities

• Develop and implement operational plans for your area of responsibility
• Provide leadership in your area of responsibility
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements
• Promote equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in your area of responsibility
• Provide learning opportunities for colleagues
• Help team members address problems affecting their performance
• Build and manage teams
• Reduce and manage conflict in your tea
• Lead meetings
• Support individuals to develop and maintain their performance
• Initiate and follow grievance procedure
• Manage redundancies in your area of responsibility
• Manage individual projects
• Manage a programme of complementary projects
• Manage business processes

Requirements

• A leisure degree or equivalent and appropriate professional qualifications
• Knowledge of key performance indicators and their application and how they can be used to effect improvement
• Thorough knowledge of leisure centre operations, programming and financial managemen
• Thorough understanding of the characteristics and qualities that customers wan
• Up to date knowledge of developments in leisure, fitness and lifestyle environment
• Sound understanding of budgets and financial control
• NPLQ, PPO, NPMQ
• A proven track record of managing in busy wet and dry leisure centres
• Delivery of a track record of significant achievements in the areas of business and commercial objectives, product growth, development, and excellent customer service
• Evidence of achieving results and making change happen through leadership and influence of a team
